Child's Voice Gwendoline: I Don't Feel Safe

"She yelled, then cried and requested a different staff stating that she did not feel safe with this staff."

Gwendoline tried to open curtains so she would not be alone with this staff member. She took extreme measures to escape being alone with the staff. She tried to break windows to escape the facility. The staff member grabbed her, dragged her to her bedroom. She told the supervisor that she was afraid of that staff but it was 30 minutes before another staff member came. Until then, she was alone in her bedroom with two male staff members - afraid and agitated.

Gwendoline was right to be afraid. The same staff member has locked children in rooms, and performed unjustified restraints in the past.

Gwendoline was not misbehaving, she was expressing fear. Fear of being alone with staff was one of the most common reasons which precipitated a restraint.

Valley of the Moon Children's Home is dangerous and abusive. Close it.
